Exercise More to Reduce the Risk of Death
A new study estimates that increasing levels of physical activity by even a modest amount per day could significantly reduce the yearly amount of deaths in our population.
Modern humans are concerningly inactive. Only 53% (and I’d suspect less) of adults over the age of 18 meet the minimum recommended physical activity guidelines for aerobic exercise, and only ~23% meet the guidelines for aerobic and muscle-strengthening (i.e. resistance) exercise (source: CDC).
