Road to Boston Training Log | Week 10
Week 10 of my training in the build up to the 2025 Boston Marathon.
This week marked week 10 of my 12-week marathon training block, which I’m referring to as the “Road to Boston.” That means three weeks until race day!
Each week, I’m sharing details about my training, some insights, and other musings as I train for the 2025 Boston Marathon.
I’m excited to announce that this training log is brought to you exclusively by STRYD running pods. STRYD helps you harness cutting-edge power metrics and real-time insights to optimize every run, anywhere you train.
This week, I’m sharing some interesting data from my race on Sunday. Take a look at the impact loading rate and stride length changes on some of the steeper downhills!
Thanks for following along!
General summary: Another solid week of training. Monday marked my first true “off day” since the middle of January and gave me a bit of a forced volume drop—much needed especially since I was feeling a bit beat up at the beginning of the week. Most of this week’s training was steady base mileage runs and bike rides as I prepared to race a final “tune up” 10k on Sunday here in Austin, Texas to test my fitness and sharpen my speed.

Race day! — Cap10k in Austin, Texas
Time: 31:50 (5:07/mile) for 11th overall (my best time and place on this course in the 3x that I’ve raced it!)
This elevation profile of this course lends itself to a hefty negative split if you run it right, and that’s what I did today: hitting 16:22 for the first 5k and 15:38 for the second (a time that’s only ~20 seconds off of my college PR on the track). The cold and wind made some parts of today tough but I honestly had one of the best races imaginable — giving me confidence I have some speed for Boston and can run strong on hilly terrain (ups and downs!)
